As the off-season approaches, now is the perfect time to refine your skills, build on your strengths, and prepare for the challenges of the next netball season. Our Term 4 Junior Talent Development Squad is designed to help dedicated young athletes take their game to the next level. This 10-week program offers a structured, progressive approach to skill development, physical conditioning, and game intelligence, ensuring you step onto the court next season as a more confident, capable player.
Who is it for?
- Athletes aged 11-13 years who have played at least two seasons of netball.
- Participants who have completed our Foundations Program or have previous experience with the Junior Talent Development Squad.

Program Breakdown: What to Expect Each Week
Week 1: Foundations Refresher & Goal Setting
- Session Focus: We begin by revisiting the core skills to ensure everyone is starting from a strong foundation. This week also includes goal-setting exercises where players identify personal areas for improvement and set measurable objectives for the term.
- Key Skills: Passing, catching, footwork, and movement patterns.
Week 2: Ball Skills and Control
- Session Focus: Mastery of ball control and precision passing under pressure. We introduce more complex drills that require quick decision-making and flawless execution.
- Key Skills: Ball-handling, passing accuracy, vision on the court.
Week 3: Footwork and Agility
- Session Focus: Intensive footwork drills designed to enhance agility, balance, and coordination. Players will work on their movement efficiency, focusing on quick directional changes and explosive starts.
- Key Skills: Pivoting, landing, acceleration, deceleration.
Week 4: Attack and Defense Transitions
- Session Focus: Emphasis on transitioning seamlessly between attack and defense. Drills will cover both individual and team strategies to improve adaptability and reaction times.
- Key Skills: Defensive positioning, intercepts, attacking moves, pressure play.
Week 5: Positional Play and Game Awareness
- Session Focus: Deep dive into the responsibilities and skills required for specific positions. Players will rotate through different roles to understand the full court dynamics.
- Key Skills: Positional awareness, spatial understanding, game sense.
Week 6: Strength and Conditioning
- Session Focus: Mid-program strength and conditioning assessment. We’ll incorporate exercises aimed at building endurance, core strength, and overall physical resilience.
- Key Skills: Body control, core stability, injury prevention.
Week 7: Advanced Attacking Strategies
- Session Focus: Develop advanced attacking plays, including feeding into the circle and shooting under pressure. Drills will emphasize timing, precision, and creative playmaking.
- Key Skills: Circle feeds, shooting techniques, offensive strategy.
Week 8: Defensive Techniques and Pressure Drills
- Session Focus: High-intensity defensive drills focusing on applying consistent pressure, disrupting the opposition, and winning turnovers.
- Key Skills: Man-to-man defense, zone defense, intercepting, blocking.
Week 9: Game Simulation and Tactical Awareness
- Session Focus: Simulated match scenarios where players apply the skills and tactics learned throughout the program. Coaches will offer real-time feedback to help players make smarter decisions.
- Key Skills: Game strategy, teamwork, communication, tactical adjustments.
Week 10: Review and Reflection & Game Day
- Session Focus: Final session where players reflect on their progress, celebrate their achievements, and prepare mentally and physically for the upcoming season. We’ll finish with an internal game to showcase the skills developed over the term.
- Key Skills: Self-assessment, confidence building, match play.
