The off-season is the perfect time to sharpen your skills, refine your game intelligence, and set yourself apart from the competition. Our Term 4 Senior Talent Development Squad is a 10-week program specifically designed for athletes aged 12 and above who are ready to advance their skills to the next level. This program is ideal for dedicated players with at least two years of experience who want to maximise their off-season and step into the new season with a competitive edge.

Who is it for?

 

  • Athletes aged 12 and above with at least two seasons of netball experience.
  • Participants who are looking to elevate their game by mastering advanced techniques, strategies, and game intelligence.
  • Players who have either completed our Foundations Program or have prior experience with the Talent Development Squad.

Program Breakdown: What to Expect Each Week

Week 1: Advanced Foundations & Goal Setting

 

  • Session Focus: Refine ball control with a focus on maintaining possession under pressure and executing dynamic passing in challenging situations. We’ll introduce complex drills that simulate game conditions.
  • Key Skills: One-handed passing, quick-release passes, fakes, and no-look passes.

Week 2: Ball Control and Dynamic Passing

 

  • Session Focus: Refine ball control with a focus on maintaining possession under pressure and executing dynamic passing in challenging situations. We’ll introduce complex drills that simulate game conditions.
  • Key Skills: One-handed passing, quick-release passes, fakes, and no-look passes.

Week 3: High-Intensity Footwork and Agility

 

  • Session Focus: Take footwork and agility to the next level with drills that emphasize explosive movements, quick changes of direction, and flawless execution of advanced footwork techniques.
  • Key Skills: Split steps, defensive shuffles, pivot efficiency, speed ladder drills.

Week 4: Advanced Attack and Defense Transitions

 

  • Session Focus: Develop fluid transitions between attack and defense with drills designed to improve your ability to adapt quickly to changing game dynamics. This session will emphasize both individual and team strategies.
  • Key Skills: Fast break transitions, defensive recovery, attacking momentum.

Week 5: Positional Mastery and Tactical Play

 

  • Session Focus: Deep dive into positional responsibilities with a focus on mastering your role within the team. We’ll work on reading the game, anticipating play, and executing positional tactics.
  • Key Skills: Defensive positioning, attacking angles, circle work, intercept anticipation.

Week 6: Strength and Conditioning for Peak Performance

 

  • Session Focus: A comprehensive strength and conditioning session tailored to build the physical attributes needed for high-performance netball. We’ll focus on strength, endurance, and injury prevention through advanced exercises.
  • Key Skills: Plyometrics, core strengthening, resistance training.

Week 7: Offensive Strategy and Advanced Shooting Techniques

 

  • Session Focus: Hone your offensive strategies with an emphasis on advanced shooting drills, including shooting under pressure, off-the-ball movement, and creating scoring opportunities.
  • Key Skills: Accurate shooting from various distances, rebounding, timing runs.

Week 8: Defensive Strategies and Advanced Pressure Tactics

 

  • Session Focus: High-intensity defensive drills that focus on applying relentless pressure, disrupting opposition play, and converting turnovers into scoring opportunities.
  • Key Skills: Full-court press, zone defense, double-teaming, defensive anticipation.

Week 9: Game Simulation and High-Level Tactical Awareness

 

  • Session Focus: Simulated match play with an emphasis on executing advanced strategies under real-game conditions. Players will be challenged to apply everything they’ve learned in a competitive, game-like environment.
  • Key Skills: Game management, strategic decision-making, on-court communication.

Week 10: Performance Review & Competitive Match Play

 

  • Session Focus: Conclude the term with a comprehensive review of individual and team performance, followed by a competitive match to showcase the skills developed over the term. Players will receive personalized feedback and next-step recommendations.
  • Key Skills: Match play strategies, mental resilience, performance analysis.
